Virtual Butterfly Release

Saturday, August 15, 2020

at 10:00 am

Our 9th annual Butterfly Release will be held

virtually.

We have a few announcements about our Butterfly Release coming up on Saturday, August 15.

1. This year, our Butterfly Release will be entirely lead by fathers! We are excited about this special detail.

2. Virtual Event - After listening to Governor Hogan this week, we have decided that it is in the best interest of everyone for us to hold our butterfly release virtually this year. We hope to have a live Facebook event at the same day and time, August 15 at 10:00 am. The program will be available online prior to the event. This way you can follow along with the live ceremony. Each baby’s name will still be announced during the ceremony and butterflies will be released after the reading of names. Following the live event; programs, certificates, and goodies (magnets and candles) will be available to pick up at Remember Me Butterfly Haven.

3. Butterfly Box - We have added a new feature to Remember Me Butterfly Haven. Rob Embly designed and built what we have named the “butterfly box.” You will notice the white “butterfly box” in the middle of the memorial garden when you walk down the path. I invite you to use a paint marker to write your baby’s name on a wooden butterfly and place the butterfly in the box.

4. Shirts and Sweatshirts - Butterfly Release shirts and sweatshirts are now on sale at the following link: www.AnythingPrinted.biz/PAILA-butterfly. Each shirt will include the list of baby names on the back of the shirt. These items are available to purchase Saturday, August 1 through Sunday, August 23.

5. Bracelets, Keychains, and Stepping Stones - You will also be able to purchase awareness bracelets ($1.00) and keychains ($2.00) when you visit. There will also be instructions about how to add your baby’s name to the next stepping stone that will be placed in Remember Me Butterfly Haven ($2.50). Exact change only please.

Wave of Light Luminaries

October 1 through October 15th

Stop by Remember Me Butterfly Haven any time

October 1 through October 15th to pick up a bag of luminaries to light at your home on October 15.

We will be lighting luminaries at Remember Me Butterfly Haven on October 15 to participate in the Wave of Light for Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day.

Luminaries will be lit by 7 pm.

This is not an official event but more of a space to come to in honor of Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day.

Karaoke & Raffle Fundraiser

Cancelled for 2020.

We will not be hosting our annual Karaoke & Raffle Fundraiser this year. We do not feel it is appropriate to ask businesses to make donations when the pandemic has made things hard on businesses. We hope to host this fundraiser again in October 2021.

A Walk to Remember

Join us for our 11th annual Walk to Remember on

Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 6:00 pm.

The event will open at 5:00 pm.

Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church

10813 Donelson Drive

Williamsport, MD 21795

This year, the service and walk will take place entirely outside!

In case of inclement weather, we have a backup plan, which will be posted prior to the event.

The service will begin at 6 p.m. Instead of lighting candles for our babies at the church altar, we will light luminaries on the lawn in front of the church to create a beautiful sea of light as the sun sets.

Registration is free, but required so we can include your baby’s name in the program and can prepare certificates.

To register, click on the picture to the left.

The evening will include a memorial service and candlelight walk. Each baby’s name will be read during the service. Each family will be invited to light a luminary in honor of their baby. Certificates will be given out for each registered participant.
T-shirts and sweatshirts will also be on sale. A list of baby names will be included on the back of each. A link will be posted prior to the event.

* Please notice, the event will start one hour early than we have started in previous years.

** There will be no balloon release, as this is now illegal in Maryland.

Click on the picture to the left to register.

DIA DE LOS MEURTOS

MONARCH FESITVAL

Sunday, November 1, 2020

Each year, monarchs migrate south. Thousands of monarchs migrate to Mexico. Their arrival in Mexico coincides with Dia de los Muertus or The Day of The Dead. Many Mexicans believe that the souls of those who have died return on those days, and they are lovingly remembered by family and friends. Monarchs have come to represent the souls of loved ones returning to visit each year. This important tradition is celebrated on November 1 and 2. The souls of babies and children are celebrated on November 1 and adults on November 2. To wrap up Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month (October), we will have a
Dia de los Muertus celebration at Remember Me Butterfly Haven (our monarch waystation) on Sunday, November 1.

Stay tuned for details!
